The AC401 Angelcare Baby Monitor

We bought a baby monitor so that we could keep a close watch on the baby while he slept or if we were in a separate room. I have no regrets about choosing an Angelcare monitor over the many other monitors that were on offer. Now, allow me tell you why.

Why do people love the Angelcare AC401?

It doesn’t just picks up sounds only, it also picks up movement! The AC401 monitor has a sensor pad for you to place underneath the baby’s bed mattress. The sensor pad can identify and detect a variety of movements from of your child. How’s that for technology?! An alarm will sound when triggered if no movement is detected at all for 20 seconds or more. However, you may change the amount of sensitivity to your level of comfort. The system could be set to ‘tic’ when movement is detected.

Plus: a nightlight and thermometer. The nursery unit of the Angelcare AC401 comes with a soft nightlight as well as a room thermometer. It was easy for us to monitor the temperature in our baby’s room from the parent unit. Temperature is in Fahrenheit for US baby monitors.

Additional features make it a great buy. Unlike other baby monitors, this Angelcare monitor has 8 channels in order to minimize interference. It has a locator for the parent’s unit, an out-of-range indicator, and you can voice activate the monitor. The LCD screen is colored which makes reading the indicators easy. Plus, if there’s a power failure, the unit automatically switches to battery mode.

The comments and reviews for the Angelcare AC401 are mostly on the positive side! However, a particular review managed to catch my attention. One mother stated the monitor actually saved her son’s life. As this baby monitor picks up movement, its alarm was triggered when it did not detect any movement out of her son. She and her husband instantly rushed to the nursery to discover that their boy wasn't breathing! It required about four to five seconds after she had picked him up before her baby began to gasp for air. The doctors in the ER found no problem with him however they did state that the baby monitor saved the boy’s life.
