They both offer different experiences, for different times of day and moods. Sometimes I just don't fell like being active. A video game is like partaking in sports. Sometimes I want to passively be entertained, I want to romantically watch a movie with my wife, this is the role of a movie. Sometimes I want to be a winner, a hero, the best I can be, that is what a video game gives me.
So what is the problem? Getting people into the theaters. How do they do this? By creating gimmicks like real 3d, or combining the film concept with a video game release. It is true that their might be less and less movie goers, but now we do not even have to leave the comfort of our home with VOD.
